Proper disposal of sharps is crucial for the safety of our community. Sharps include any device with a sharp point or edge that can puncture or cut skin.

Here's how to safely dispose of sharps:

  1. Purchase a sharps container from a pharmacy or other source, or use a strong plastic or metal container with a tightly secured lid.
  2. Label the container as “Used Sharps.”
  3. Firmly seal the container.
  4. Store the sealed sharps container away from children and pets.
  5. Drop off your sealed sharps container at the Mesa County Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, 3071 U.S. Highway 50, Wednesday through Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Sharps disposal is free of charge for Mesa County residents.

NEVER recycle sharps, toss them loosely in the trash, or flush them down the toilet.

Your actions make a big difference in keeping our community safe and healthy. Thank you for properly disposing of sharps.
